Sangyuanwei, the "Great Wall on water" that "guards" Foshan for more than 900 years, is the most representative project of basic irrigation conservancy in the Pearl River Delta, and also the largest basic irrigation conservancy project in ancient China. Thanks to irrigation of Sangyuanwei, this place has long become "the largest grain area in eastern Guangdong". Sangyuanwei is rich in flood control classics and figures, temples for the water god and relevant worshipping activities, ancient wells and bridges and dragon boat culture. These all have witnessed the 900-year history of Foshan’s development.
