With a history of more than 600 years, Gongwu Village of Huizhou Prefecture is one of representative traditional villages in China.
Many of its extant ancient residential houses and courtyards were built in the Late Ming and Early Qing Dynasties, including the ancient dock, Wuzhaidi, the center street, the ancestral hall of the Liao family and other buildings.
Among these buildings, Wuzhai Castle is one of the largest and oldest Diaolou-style castles in Guangdong. Moreover, these ancient architectural complexes are at the center of Gongwu Village, and they stretch to the rest of the Village to create a style of scattered buildings with a concentrated layout, representing the cultural characteristics of Guangdong province.
Nowadays, ancient culture has integrated with modern tourism, taking tourists back to the prosperity of hundreds of years ago.
