【葡新传媒】As an important event of “Experience China - Guangdong Culture Tour to Europe”, an exhibition showcasing books, photos and innovative products from both Guangdong and Limburg, named “Building Bridges”, was opened on July 8 in Hasselt, capital city of Limburg, Belgium.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Shen Haixiong, Guangdong
provincial publicity chief, said, “On its road to national revival, China
contributes to the world high-speed rail, e-commerce, Alipay and bicycle
sharing, which are named “New Four Great Inventions” by foreign friends. These
innovations have changed the sphere of activities, habits and customs and
production modes of the Chinese people including the Guangdong people, and have
also brought us closer to the world and the world’s leading innovation edge.”
He said that he hopes Limburg and Guangdong will work together to transfer
the Silk Road Consensus into cooperation in policy making, infrastructure,
finance and trade as well as closer people- to-people connection.
As eyewitness of the establishment of sister province relationship between Limburg and Guangdong two years ago, Qu Xing, ambassador of China to Belgium, said, the ties between China and Belgium are in their best time in history, adding that he hopes the two provinces and the two countries could have more cooperation projects under the “Belt and Road Initiative”.
Eric Gerits, vice governor of Limburg responsible for economic issues, said that the two provinces have built a bridge of friendship in the past two years. The exhibition and the agreements to be signed will consolidate the cooperation and offer chances to people from both sides to visit each other, to see the outside world and to further the bilateral cultural exchange and economic development.
During the event, nearly one hundred books including Xi Jinping: The Governance of China and about 40 photos on friendship between Guangdong and Limburg were on display. Agreements were signed between companies in the two places to boost cooperation in the fields of bio-medicine, innovative technology and publication.
