Strict governance of the Communist Party of China (CPC) is crucial to the Party’s strength and the country’s development
Since the 18th CPC National Congress, the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core firmly advances strict Party governance, spares no effort to solve prominent social problems and has made historic achievements in anti-corruption.
But the Party never rests on its laurels. The leadership has repeatedly warned that the biggest threat to the Party is corruption and the CPC must better serve the people and lead the second largest economy in the world.
President Xi Jinping often stresses Party governance is the priority to a country’s governance. And to better govern the Party, strict strategies should be imposed to strengthen the Party’s ability to regulate itself, improve itself and innovate itself for the purpose of long-term rule. “We won’t have the support of the people if we are unable to solve the intra-Party problems of public concern,” said President Xi.
Strengthen discipline for Party’s image
The discipline of the members or organizations is closely related to the CPC’s image, an indicator of the relationship between the Party and people. Thus, any undisciplined behaviour can harm the CPC’s image.
That’s why in late 2012, the CPC began a far-reaching campaign to address corruption, extravagance, unfavorable work styles and other discipline violations.
The leadership has repeatedly warned that the biggest threat to the Party is corruption and the CPC must better serve the people.
During the anti-corruption campaign, neither high-ranking “tigers” nor low-level “flies” could avoid punishment.
In addition to over 240 senior officials being investigated, 1.19 million Party members and cadres have been punished, and about 3000 corrupt fugitives have been taken back from over 90 countries and regions. The campaign is highly praised by the masses and has reinforced people's confidence in the Party.
Governance through education and regulations
President Xi Jinping once indicated strengthening Party governance should combine education and regulations.
To better serve the people, the CPC has been encouraging and sending Party cadres and members with higher education and more experience to the grassroots organizations, especially in rural areas.
Besides, various rules and regulations have been enacted to standardize and improve the political life and discipline within the Party; the monitor modes and methods of inner-party supervision have also been constantly reformed and innovated.
Guangdong’s efforts in Party governance
Earlier in April this year, President Xi Jinping gave instructions to Guangdong, requiring Guangdong to uphold the CPC leadership, adhere to socialism with Chinese characteristics, keep the new development concepts of innovation, coordination, green, opening up and sharing, and stick to reform and opening-up.
Party organizations at all levels and party members and cadres in Guangdong must study and implement President Xi Jinping’s speech spirits, especially the spirit of President Xi Jinping’s speech on July 26, 2017, understand the historical achievements of all-round strict party governance since the 18th CPC National Congress, stick to all-round strict party governance with greater determination, courage and willpower, so as to provide solid political foundation and organization guarantee to Guangdong’s practice of “four upholds, three supports, two leading roles”.
