Recentemente, o 1º Festival do Lótus de Hengqin foi inaugurado no Jardim do Lótus da Zona de Cooperação Profunda Guangdong-Macauem Hengqin. Ao mesmo tempo, realizou-se em Macau o 23.º Festival da Lótus de Macau, com os dois festivais interligados, transmitindo o profundo amor entre os dois locais. Segundo consta, o 1º Festival do Lótus de Hengqin, com o tema "Pintar um novo capítulo com o lótus", tem como objetivo utilizar o festival como um elo de ligação para transmitir a cultura tradicional chinesa transportada pelo lótus e promover o intercâmbio cultural entre Hengqin e Macau.
